As a result of stagnating fisheries and fast growing aquaculture production, aquaculture is becoming the main source of fish and shellfish in most parts of the globe. This new reality will trigger major opportunities as well as challenges for the aquafeed industry, which accounts for 50% of the production cost in aquaculture operations. Aquafeed represents only 5% of global animal feed volume but Aquaculture’s progress depends on specific nutritional and technological advances in feed formulation. Its main challenges are:
